I have this belief that if Santana isn’t with Rachel, then she’s with Quinn and if Rachel isn’t with Santana then she’s with Brittany. Like, it’s weird, but those two ships flip really easily for me and it’s really fun to imagine a world where Quinntana and Pieberry exist (Pieberry is like, a huge stretch, but there’s a headcanon that supports it) as opposed to Pezberry and Quitt.

i imagine that brittany and rachel get up to many hijinks. and if it’s the right kind of ridiculous, santana might join in too. at which point quinn just pours herself a drink and wonders how these crazy people keep happening to her.

Like the time they stole a ride on the carousel in Prospect Park (don’t ask HOW, Quinn still has no idea) but one minute Brittany was drawing a butterfly on Rachel’s hand and the next they were gone and when Quinn and Santana looked up from the subway schedule on Quinn’s phone… well, all they saw was Brittany hauling Rachel up onto one of the carousel horses to sit in front of her.

Quinn is remarkably less jealous than Santana and she practically has to tie Santana to the bench because “I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOUR GIRLFRIEND PUTS THE MOVES ON MY GIRLFRIEND I WILL-“

(It’s the first time Santana’s called Rachel her girlfriend out loud and the realisation drives her to drunken karaoke where she sings “Hopelessly Devoted” to Rachel and, really, ‘barf’ is all Quinn can manage.)

The thing is, Brittany never liked Rachel in high school because Rachel was such a non-entity on her radar. Being in glee meant being around Rachel but until senior year Brittany didn’t really even see her. Being with Quinn and living in New York meant she saw Rachel almost daily (like when she’s helping with choreography for A Chorus Line and Rachel is playing Bebe Benzenheimer and, well, Rachel asks for help one day during rehearsals and then they go for coffee before the show and the rest is history) so she had to get over that sooner rather than later.

Plus, Britt gets a thrill out of further corrupting Rachel.

who is the big spoon/little spoon

Brittany is. Brittany has this whole list of ‘rules’ about who should do what in relationships based on weird, unexplainable things. One of them is that Quinn is too short to be the big spoon like, ever. Quinn just goes along with them because her wife has never been wrong before (even the banana juice incident on their trip to Germany) and Quinn has come to find it’s just easier to trust Brittany on these things.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity
Well, see, old habits die hard for Cheerios. Even after years of being a part of MIT’s latest brain trust, and years of writing for NBC’s latest all-female dramedy, Brittany and Quinn have found it really hard to shake the habit of running five miles every morning. It used to be, when they were in high school, they’d meet up at the park in the middle of their neighbourhood and they’d race to see who could get to the fountain in the middle of the park first. New York is different from Lima in a lot of ways, but there are plenty of parks for them to race through. They manage keep it up even after they have Ariel. They buy this awesome jogging stroller and, sure, maybe they can only get in two miles before she gets fussy and it takes them an hour, but it’s always been their thing and it slowly becomes a family thing they keep up, even when it’s just walking Ariel to daycare.

who uses all the hot water in the morning
They both do. Before Ariel is born they would race back to their apartment and the first one up the stairs (six flights of un-air conditioned stairs) would win the shower first. Quinn never won because she has short legs and Brittany’s always been in better shape than her and it’s so not fair. But Brittany is a good girlfriend (and eventually, wife) and always drags Quinn in with her and by the time they’re washing their hair the water is ice cold but their skin is so flushed from running and orgasming neither really care.

After Ariel is born, though, they take a shower together because, turns out, she’s a super fussy baby and sleeps for really short bursts of time so they maximise that time by doing as much together as possible. Which means showering as fast as possible, together. Brittany is totally bummed because she misses shower sex and, well, sex in general, because now they only get to do it when Rachel and Santana babysit.

what they order from take out
Brittany is always up for something new, which pleases Quinn deeply. They rarely order from the same place, or the same thing, but they do have ONE Chinese place that makes the best mu shu pork in all of Manhattan so they try to do that once or twice a month. Ariel makes them order from that grilled cheese place once a week for a solid six-month stretch and by the end of her weird food obsession, Quinn is so done with grilled cheese she almost recoils in horror when they find it on a menu.

what is the most trivial thing they fight over
The remote. Which, it’s trivial because they usually agree on what to watch. But it’s a power/dominance thing. Sometimes (every time) it gets physical… which then turns into sex, so, everyone wins in the end.

who does most of the cleaning
Quinn. Brittany uses her brain trust status as an excuse to get out of a lot of stuff. She does clean the kitchen after dinner, though, because Quinn usually does all the cooking, and she likes the balance of the arrangement.

what has a season pass in their DVR
When Quinn first started writing for NBC, she put her show on season pass and would watch every episode (after the live air) for higher ratings. No lie. But then their schedules get jumbled and every-other-week for six months Brittany has to go to Boston so they almost miss an entire season of Survivor. So that ends up on season pass and they watch it together over the phone.

who controls the netflix queue
It’s a shared queue, thank you very much, and it has a nice mix of lesbian movies, TV shows that were cancelled too soon, Xena, and cartoons from the 90s and early 2000s. When Ariel shows up they’re grateful for Netflix for Kids because she learns how to delete things from queue really early on and when Quinn discovers that every Star Trek series has been removed from their queue she feels this throb between her eyes that hasn’t been there since high school. Brittany defuses the situation, but Quinn is always a little mistrustful of Ariel and doesn’t leave her alone with the TV remote while she’s watching Netflix.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working
Quinn. Not because she doesn’t trust her wife or anything, but because it takes Brittany so long to get to the point. She usually ends up chatting with the super for an hour about his family back in Egypt and his cat’s latest litter of kittens and then comes home with fresh baked umm ali and a promise from the super that he’ll fix it tomorrow. Which, you know, is fine when it’s something simple, like a burner on their stove dies. But working heat in the middle of winter is something Quinn considers to be ‘important’, so, she just kind of took it upon her self to handle the super for the emergencies.

who steals the blankets
Brittany. She stole them with Santana and she stole them that one weird week she lived with Rachel and it was too cold to sleep on the couch. Quinn is a cover hog in her own right but the fact that Brittany manages to wrestle the covers away from her and efficiently burrito herself is quite impressive. During the winter they use two separate blankets and spoon together like they’re in separate sleeping bags. It’s particularly convenient when Ariel starts wandering into their room because she just brings her blanket and snuggles between them without fighting under the covers with her cold feet. (Quinn swears that child has poor circulation and should see the heart doctor but Brittany just calms her down and reminds her that Ariel refuses to wear shoes and it’s 32 degrees outside so of course her feet are cold. That’s why she’s Jack Frost.)

who leaves their stuff around
Brittany. She’s not really forgetful, she just doesn’t think she has to zip around the apartment to put all of her things away after dance class just to go around gathering them again the next day. So she just… leaves them on that expensive little table in the hallway - that’s what it’s for, right? - and goes about her business. It’s not her fault Quinn doesn’t understand her logic and ends up trailing behind her picking things up.

who remembers to buy the milk
Brittany. Britney asked her if she’s ‘got milk’, so she always does. They always have a half gallon in the fridge so they’re never without for their breakfast. But Ariel comes along with her lactose intolerance and her dislike for lactose-free milk, so Brittany always makes sure there’s a carton of unsweetened vanilla almond milk in the fridge, too.

who remembers anniversaries
They’re both really good at remembering the big ones, but Brittany remembers the more obscure ones. Like, the first time they had sex somewhere other than the bed (July 10, 2018), the first time they held hands in public (October 2, 2018), and the first time Quinn said “I love you, too” (October 3, 2018, at 12:01AM). Their relationship has been a slow, bumbling, meandering trip and Brittany, who took the little things for granted with Santana, remembers every bump and jostle along the way. It’s just apart of her, now. And Quinn, who took everything for granted until the accident, is always so happy and surprised when Brittany shows up with a bouquet of buttercups to celebrate the third anniversary of their first road trip back to Lima or a bottle of wine to commemorate the time they got drunk at Rachel and Santana’s engagement party and decided to have a baby.

Santana is the big spoon. Berry is tiny and it’s ridiculous to even THINK about it. But, big surprise, they usually wake up completely flipped, with Rachel plastered to Santana’s back.

They can both be bad about it but Santana is notorious for leaving a trail of work out clothes from the front door to the bedroom. She usually doesn’t make it to the bathroom because Rachel has a problem ignoring her totally naked girlfriend walking through the apartment.

Rachel. It’s on her grocery list.

They’re both pretty good about it. Santana has an app for that and Rachel can’t seem to forget the dates of their firsts. Santana’s pretty sure there’s a creepy scrapbook SOMEWHERE but she hasn’t found it. (Really, Rachel just has a REALLY detailed journal from the year they started dating, so.)
